Billowing blooms at Bodnant

Arriving at this garden one is forewarned of the delights to behold ..many Magnolia trees are in full bloom ,the clouds of white, pink and purple punch though the haze of deciduous trees.

It seems as though the NT is agressively revitalizing this garden..the acres of choice Rhodo's and Azaleas especially seem to be under the discipline of heavy pruners. It is also exciting to watch the upgrading of areas previously warn out from heavy footfall and the management of tired or elderly plants. The changes sometimes begs the question : why not let a mature garden remain mature ? Readers can add their thoughts in the comments bit.

I was delighted to discover a few groups of  Erythronium revolutum,a lovely little flower used as ground cover around young trees in acid soil. If you are equally delighted with these flowers they are available for purchase..let me know if you're interested.
There will be a blog to follow on how effective Erythroniums look in a garden..!

Go visit Bodnant if you can ..it is in North Wales near Conway..if you'd .like someone to accompany you and see a few other gardens in the area let me know ! It looks especially gorgeous from now through to June, athough there is still lots to enjoy through to October.

Yeah, you pose an awkard question. Gardens are I guess living things and need an overhaul from time to time. The pickled in aspic look of some NT gardens years ago was always a bit sad. I think a garden needs a gardener with vision to take it onto the next stage, whatever that is.
Interesting!
